Strove to find a way to punch people in the face by using the Internet.
2/01/2008
I'm not saying I'm closing up shop or anything, not permanently, but I'm not planning to post anything here anytime soon. I'm just too busy with other stuff, and, frankly, when I do find the time to start writing something, I always shitcan it halfway through, because I half dread the wad of stupid comments and messages inevitably shat forth. Plus I feel like anything I come up with is too schticky and predictable to really get behind.
So, let's see... No thanks whatsoever to the stalkery weirdos gumming up the works. I'm sorry you want to drain all the fun out of this stuff. I'm sorry you read a couple of jokes I wrote on a Website and felt like you knew something about me, or that you were in a position to demand something from me. I'm sorry your mommy took the tit out of your mouth too early or whatever and I can't give you the attention you need as a result. I'm sorry you will someday die confused, despondent and utterly alone.
Lots of thanks to everyone else, though! My sincere thanks go to everyone who ever bothered to read, link to or tell your pals about this crap. Thanks to all the many non-creeps who ever dropped me a line or left a comment without being a dick. Thanks to everyone who bought the book, and to everyone who came out to see me read. I do not take these things for granted. I hope you got a few honest chuckles out of this nonsense, or, to paraphrase fantasy author Michael Moorcock, at least found it a way to pass the time without wasting it.
Special thanks go to Caitlin, Maud, Eden and Tracey, the best Internet big sisters a dude could ever have. Thanks to my pop and brothers and sister and Flo and really my entire kick-ass family for being good sports about everything and just generally awesome people. Same goes to all my pals, especially Todd, Becca, Scott and Jim. I appreciate you guys playing along, or simply giving support and encouragement.
Thanks to Chris Warner, Samantha Robertson, Randy Stradley and everyone at Dark Horse and M Press for the hard work on the book, and for being, well, cool. I like you, and am glad to be associated with what you do. Thanks to Criminal Records, Todd again, my metal brothers in Withered, Dallas Hudgens, Lauren Cerand, Maud again and John at Goering's, for making the readings so much fun. Thanks to Jon Resh not only for almost two decades of friendship, but for making the book look fantastic. Let's face it — the content ain't much to get excited about, but the damn thing really does look incredible.
Won't it be hilarious in, like, two days, when I change my mind and post some long-ass story anyway, after falling on my sword in such a melodramatic fashion? Ha ha, I'm such a douche. Anyway, in the meantime:
